Utah Tech University officially opens doTERRA Nutrition Center in renovated Habibian Athletic Center

Sep 11, 2023

ST. GEORGE, Utah — Thanks to the support of doTERRA and other community partners, Utah Tech University has renovated its Habibian Athletic Center and added the doTERRA Nutrition Center to the facility to provide student-athletes with the resources they need to compete at the Division I level.

Building off the vision Frank Habibian shared with the university 12 years ago when he helped establish the Habibian Athletic Center, doTERRA, a provider of the highest-quality essential oils, teamed up with Utah Tech to make improvements to the university’s strength and conditioning facility. Epitomizing collaborative community support, Don and Peggy Watkins, TruAudio, Grass Creek Construction, Intermountain Health, Alltek and Dairy West joined the effort. Collectively, the partners contributed $1 million to the project, helping create a state-of-the-art facility for student-athletes.

“Utah Tech’s vision of innovation and entrepreneurship and their achievements of exceptional student learning and success aligns well with doTERRA’s mission to advance the science and innovation of essential oils and to empower people and communities around the world,” Greg Cook, founding executive of doTERRA, said. “doTERRA is thrilled to be investing in our future innovators and leaders at Utah Tech and to highlight our many customers and the amazing wellness advocates in Southern Utah.”

Expanding the strength and conditioning facility for student-athletes in UT’s 15 intercollegiate athletic programs, the renovations to the Habibian Athletic Center included new equipment, flooring, offices, a sound system and an added team meeting room. In addition to providing nutritional resources as part of a fueling station for Trailblazers, the doTERRA Nutrition Center also offers nutrition education that they can use for the rest of their lives. The partnerships also made it possible for a full-time dietician to be available to the university’s student-athletes.

“The creation of the new doTERRA Nutrition Center coupled with the renovation of the Frank Habibian Athletics Center enhance our ability to provide the necessary amenities to meet the specific needs of our student-athletes,” Ken Beazer, UT’s athletic director, said. “The doTERRA Nutrition Center is designed to play a vital role in increasing athletic performance, recovery and overall health of the student-athletes.  In addition to proper nutrition, hydration and supplementation, the nutrition center will also serve as a catalyst to provide education and guidance to our student-athletes for long-term success and wellness.”

To celebrate this advancement in addressing the holistic development of student-athletes, Utah Tech held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 8 in addition to recognizing the donors at the Trailblazers’ home-opener football game against Montana on Sept. 9.
