doTERRA Dissolves Partnership with Somaliland Frankincense Vendor
Forced to Vacate Sanaag Specialty Hospital
After learning of troubling allegations about its frankincense resin supplier, Asli Maydi, doTERRA suspended sourcing operations in Somaliland and hired renowned law firm Sidley Austin to conduct a complete and thorough investigation.
The findings of the investigation revealed significant breaches of contract. As a result, doTERRA formally cancelled its contract with Asli Maydi in December 2023.
Since that time, the owner of Asli Maydi has forced doTERRA and its on-the-ground medical service provider, Response-Med, to vacate the Sanaag Specialty Hospital – a full-service healthcare facility primarily funded and managed by doTERRA. As a result, doTERRA was compelled to temporarily close the hospital and safely evacuate all patients.
doTERRA is actively working with the Government of Somaliland on this matter. More information will be forthcoming in due course.
