Hurricane-Proof Water Station Built in Haiti

Jan 26, 2021

Since our founding in 2008, doTERRA has been committed to sourcing the highest quality essential oils, but that mission expanded significantly in 2014. On a trip to visit Vetiver sourcing communities in Haiti, doTERRA leaders met with individuals and community leaders who shared their hopes and dreams for the future. One of those desires was access to clean water. It was then that doTERRA realized that sourcing the best essential oils wasn’t enough—we had to take care of the community as well. doTERRA immediately committed to dig six wells for the community, and three months later they celebrated the project’s completion.

Over the years, doTERRA has continued to fund the digging of wells in Haiti through doTERRA Healing Hands. Recently, a new well and water station was completed in Fonfrede. Constructed from concrete, this water station is built to withstand the hurricanes that are common in the region. The structure consists of four water tanks capable of holding 600 gallons each. It stores and dispenses water from the well, so that community members can fill their own containers. This is just one of the ways doTERRA continues to support our sourcing communities around the world.
