As the COVID-19 situation progresses around the world, the supply of surgical masks is depleting in many communities. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation partnered with Days for Girls to provide millions of homemade fabric masks to hospitals, clinics and healthcare professionals globally. To combat the low supply of surgical masks during COVID-19, many volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide hand-sewn masks.

Those willing to help in their respective communities were asked to find which facilities needed donations and any specific requirements. doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation provided patterns for volunteers, along with instructions for how to keep the masks in a sterile and clean environment.

In addition to the Masks4Millions initiative, doTERRA sent out a call for employees to sew masks for individuals working on campus. The call was met with an overwhelming response and over 5,000 masks were sewn and donated so that work on campus could keep moving forward.

While the Center for Disease Control and Prevention doesn’t suggest cloth material as a first-line defense against COVID-19, cloth masks do work well for other conditions and can help conserve precious reserves of N-95 respirator masks. In times of emergency, when all compliant supplies have been exhausted, the CDC allows fabric masks to be used.
