COVID-19 Relief for Hospitals in Nepal

Aug 27, 2020

With a mission to source the best and help the most, doTERRA is eager to support the communities involved in our supply chains. At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal, the government provided beds, some staff, and testing supplies to help combat and prevent the spread of the virus. However, limited resources left many communities—especially rural communities—at risk.

In order to support several of our sourcing communities, doTERRA, in partnership with CHOICE Humanitarian Nepal, helped provide urgent medical supplies to three rural hospitals in Makwanpur, Ramechhap, and Lamjung. Supplies include masks, chlorine and disinfectant, automatic oxygen machines, reusable personal protection equipment, and much more. It is estimated that the supplies donated will support 15 healthcare workers and over 1,500 patients for three to five months.

In recent years, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation has assisted in the construction of two hospitals in Makwanpur and Ramechhap. The hospital in Makwanpur started an isolated patient care ward, with six beds allocated for treating coronavirus patients. At the end of March, the Ramechhap hospital opened ahead of its inauguration date to serve as a quarantine center. Since that time, 54 people have been quarantined with 11 patients testing positive. Thankfully, there have not been any deaths at this time.
