doTERRA Introduces New Sustainable Shipping Efforts
As part of an ongoing commitment to sustainability, doTERRA introduced new sustainable shipping solutions earlier this year for North America. Changes include updated shipping boxes and replacing plastic bubble wrap and air pillows with paper alternatives.
doTERRA’s new shipper boxes are made from 40-50 percent post-consumer recycled material. Optimized sizing also reduces overall corrugate usage by 40 percent. This change saves 1.3 million square feet of cardboard every month, or 15.6 million square feet every year. That’s enough cardboard to fill Disneyland over 2 times!
In addition to our new shipping boxes, doTERRA is replacing plastic bubble wrap and air pillows with paper alternatives in all North America distribution centers. Combined, this will reduce plastic waste by 177,000 pounds. Stretched in a straight line, that’s 4,036 miles of plastic or the distance from Tokyo Japan to the Island of Hawaii!
doTERRA is committed to participating in environmental stewardship wherever possible and making it easier for customers to do their part. Resources were added to Source to You to encourage customers to properly recycle or upcycle essential oil bottles, supplement bottles and packaging. United States residents can enter their zip code to find the nearest drop-off locations for brown/amber glass recycling.
